How To Kick Your Results Into High Gear

It’s one thing to set a goal date to achieve your muscle building and fat loss goals, but it’s an entirely new ball game when you make the commitment to step on stage and compete on your goal date.
This picture of Vince Del Monte was taken the day prior to stepping on stage at the Fitness Atlantic Championships in the Fitness Model category. You better believe that making the commitment to enter this contest, forced Vinny to stay on track and become ultra-focused on achieving his goal.
This is definitely the biggest and most ripped that I’ve every since Vince. Every year that I’ve known Vince he has improved his physique dramatically and I can guarantee that he’ll look even better next year.
Now I’m not one to step on stage in a speedo, but I have found a way to experience a similar way to kick my results into high gear. For the second time in a couple of years I have scheduled a photo shoot on my goal date.
Scheduling a photo shoot creates an event around your deadline. It makes your goal at least a thousand times more concrete. It creates that sense of urgency. Here’s a picture of me 41 days away from the photo shoot. The pressure is beginning to kick in ![]()

What I really like about booking a photo shoot is that it is a reward at the end of my journey. It’s a great way to celebrate my successes and capture the moment.
One thing that Vince and I both have done to elevate our game is to announce our events and goals to as many people as possible. Public accountability is a massive driving force. Once you make your goals public it generates those feelings and thoughts of, “Well now I’ve got to get my butt in gear and make sure that I look amazing on my goal date.”
I encourage you to not just set a goal date for your muscle building and fat loss goals. Create an event around it and make it public. This will boost your motivation and create that sense of urgency so that you don’t put things off to a future date or blow off a workout for some lame reason.
